Your locally owned, Michigan-made fencing solution. Offering wood, aluminum, vinyl, and chain link fencing
We’re not just another fence company — we’re a small, family-run business with deep local roots and a strong reputation. With over 20 years of hands-on fence installation experience and more than a decade operating as Top Tier Fencing, we’ve built our name on honest work, quality materials, and a “make it right” mindset. Our customers know us for showing up when we say we will, doing the job right the first time, and standing behind our work long after the job is done.
Our team isn’t made up of random day laborers or whoever’s available. Every crew member is trained to meet our standards for craftsmanship, safety, and customer service. We provide hands-on training, ongoing education, and real-world experience to ensure every member of our team understands both traditional and modern fencing techniques — including our specialized no-dig installation process. We’re proud to have a crew that treats each job like it’s their own backyard.
We follow a consistent process from start to finish to ensure every fence meets our standards. That includes detailed pre-installation planning, accurate layouts, high-quality materials from trusted vendors, and thorough post-install walk-throughs with the homeowner. Our “make it right” policy means if something isn’t perfect, we’ll fix it — no excuses. Quality isn’t just a goal for us, it’s our baseline.
Top Tier Fencing has been serving Michigan homeowners for over 10 years. But our experience goes back even further — we’ve been installing fences for more than 20 years and come from a family of contractors going back three generations. Fencing isn’t new to us — and we’ve built our company to last, just like the fences we install.
Most standard residential fences can be installed in one to three days once work begins, depending on the size, material, layout, and site conditions. During busier seasons or for more complex installs, timelines may be a bit longer — but we’ll always keep you updated on scheduling.
We offer both traditional post-setting with concrete and modern no-dig installation.
Traditional: Posts are set in concrete after digging holes, offering time-tested strength.
No-dig: Posts are driven directly into the ground using specialized equipment — no holes, no concrete, and less disruption to your yard.
We’ll help you choose the best method based on the material, property layout, and your preferences.
Will handle the following:
Permits: We will obtain the necessary permits for the fence installation, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
Public Utilities: We coordinate with local utilities to mark public underground lines (like gas, water, and public electrical services) to avoid interference or damage during the installation process.
Homeowners should take the following steps:
Property Lines: If you are uncertain about your property boundaries, arrange for a survey company to accurately mark the lines to ensure the fence is installed within your property limits.
HOA Approval: Secure any necessary approvals from your Homeowners Association (HOA) to comply with community regulations regarding fence design, height, and materials.
Mark Private Utilities: Identify and clearly mark any private underground utilities, including irrigation lines, private electrical wiring, sprinkler systems, or other underground features, to prevent accidental damage during installation.
Clearing the Area: Ensure the fence line and surrounding area are free from debris, equipment, and other obstructions to facilitate smooth and efficient installation.
Absolutely! Many customers choose to be home, but it’s not required. As long as we have clear access to the job site and any gates are unlocked, we can complete the project without anyone needing to be present. We’re always happy to walk through everything with you before and after the install if you’re home.
We install wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link fencing. Each type offers different benefits depending on your goals — whether that’s privacy, security, curb appeal, or durability. We also offer both traditional and no-dig installation methods depending on the material and site conditions.
We work with high-quality materials from trusted vendors with proven product warranties. For wood fencing, we offer pressure-treated pine and cedar. Our vinyl fences come in premium-grade materials that won’t crack or warp like big-box store brands. Aluminum fences are powder-coated for durability and rust resistance, and our chain link options include both standard galvanized and vinyl-coated styles.
Wood fencing: 10–20+ years, depending on maintenance and exposure
Vinyl fencing: 20–30+ years with minimal upkeep
Aluminum fencing: 30–50+ years with virtually no maintenance
Chain link fencing: 20–30+ years depending on coating and conditions
Proper installation and care are key to maximizing any fence’s lifespan — and we install with longevity in mind.
We offer a wide range of fence styles to suit your property and preferences. This includes full-privacy panels, picket fences, decorative aluminum styles, and custom wood fencing. Vinyl, chain link and aluminum come in various colors and finishes, and we can customize gate placements, post caps, and layout designs to meet your needs.
We don’t offer in-house staining or painting services. However, if you choose wood fencing, we can recommend local professionals or guide you on when and how to stain or seal it after installation. Keep in mind that staining should only be done after the wood has dried out properly.
Yes! We install fences on slopes all the time. Depending on the grade, we can either step the fence panels or follow the natural contour of the land. We’ll discuss the best approach during your consultation to make sure it looks clean and functions properly.
Yes, we can install fences on concrete, patios, driveways, and retaining walls using special surface-mounted hardware and anchors or by core drilling. We’ll assess the best method based on your property during your consultation.
We recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks in advance, especially during the spring and summer months when demand is highest. This allows time for consultations, permitting, material orders, and Miss Dig notifications. The sooner you schedule, the more flexibility we’ll have to meet your preferred timeline.
Several factors can impact your install date, including:
Weather conditions (especially rain or frozen ground)
Delays in permit approvals or HOA reviews
Material availability or special-order products
Project backlog during peak season
We’ll keep you informed every step of the way and provide updated timelines if anything shifts.
You’re welcome to request a preferred time frame, and we’ll do our best to accommodate it. That said, installation dates depend on current scheduling, permit timing, and weather — so while we can’t guarantee exact dates up front, we’ll always communicate clearly and give you a solid estimate with plenty of notice.
If bad weather or other issues delay your installation, we’ll notify you right away and work to get you rescheduled as soon as possible. Your project won’t fall through the cracks — we’re committed to keeping you updated and getting the job done right, even if the timeline shifts slightly.
No-dig fencing uses specialized equipment to drive steel or aluminum posts directly into the ground — without digging holes or using concrete. It’s a clean, efficient installation method that eliminates messy dirt piles and speeds up the process, all while delivering excellent long-term strength and stability.
No-dig fencing offers several benefits:
Faster installation — no waiting for concrete to cure
Minimal disruption — no holes, piles of dirt, or yard damage
Cleaner finish — especially great for established lawns and landscaping
Less mess and downtime — you can enjoy your yard sooner
Easier to Repair — Repairs are faster, and cheaper in the event of any damages to your fence
It’s ideal for most residential properties and works with a variety of fence types and terrains.
Yes — when installed properly, no-dig fences are actually stronger and longer lasting when compared to those set in concrete. The driven posts are anchored deep in the ground and resist shifting, leaning, or heaving. Our crew is trained in best practices for no-dig installation to ensure solid performance that holds up over time.
We install no-dig fences with Michigan winters in mind. Posts are driven below the frost line, minimizing movement caused by freeze/thaw cycles. Because there’s less disturbed soil around the post, frost heave is actually less likely with no-dig compared to traditional dig-and-pour methods.
Your fence quote is based on several factors:
Total linear footage and layout
Material type (wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain link)
Style, height, and color/finish
Number and size of gates
Site conditions (slopes, tree roots, concrete, etc.)
Access and layout complexity
We provide detailed, transparent quotes with no hidden fees. If the scope doesn’t change, the price doesn’t either.
We accept:
Cash
Personal or certified checks
All major credit cards
ACH
Discounts area available for cash and check payments
We also offer flexible financing options to help you spread out the cost of your project if needed.
Yes, we offer various financing options to make it easier for our customers to invest in quality fencing solutions.
Yes — all materials come with manufacturer warranties, and our workmanship is backed by our “make it right” promise. If something isn’t right with the installation, we’ll take care of it — no fine print, no runaround.
We require:
- A small, non-refundable deposit to schedule your on-site consultation (applied to your total project cost if you proceed).
- A larger deposit to secure your place on our schedule and begin the fence installation process once you approve the formal quote.
- The remaining balance is due upon completion of the installation.
We’ll outline all costs clearly so there are no surprises at any step.

In most cases, yes — especially within city or township limits. Requirements vary depending on your location, the type of fence, height, and where it will be installed (e.g. front yard vs. backyard). We’re familiar with the permitting process in many Michigan municipalities and will advise you based on your specific area.
Yes — once you approve your quote and pay the project deposit, we’ll handle the entire permitting process for you. We’ll submit the paperwork, communicate with the city or township, and make sure everything is in order before installation begins. No running around on your end.
Yes — many areas have specific rules about fence height, location (setbacks), materials, and visibility (especially on corner lots). HOA neighborhoods may also have their own guidelines. We’re experienced with zoning rules in cities like Ann Arbor, Saline, Ypsilanti, Milan, Tecumseh, and surrounding areas, and we’ll make sure your fence complies.
Some styles do and some don't — if you’re installing a fence to meet pool code, let us know upfront. We’ll ensure the fence height, gate type, latch placement, and spacing all comply with Michigan pool safety standards and your local building code.
Absolutely. While we don’t deal directly with your HOA, we can provide layout drawings, material details, and any other documents you may need to submit for approval. We’ve helped many customers successfully navigate HOA fencing requirements.
Yes! Nearly every fence we install is customized to fit your property and your vision. From layout and gate placement to material and style, we’ll work with you to make sure your fence is both functional and visually appealing. We also offer solutions for special use cases like pet containment, pool safety, or decorative front-yard accents.
We offer a wide variety of color and finish options depending on the material:
Vinyl fencing is available in classic white, tan, and clay.
Aluminum fencing comes in black, bronze, white, tan, and green. Most colors are available in either matte or gloss finishes.
Chain link fencing is available galvanized or vinyl-coated in black, green, and brown.
Wood fencing can be left natural, sealed, or stained after installation.
We’ll do our best! While we may not be able to match materials exactly in every case, we can often align your new fence with the look and feel of your home, landscaping, or existing fencing. We’re happy to provide recommendations and design options that help your fence blend in or stand out—whichever you prefer.
At Top Tier Fencing, we do our best to reduce environmental impact wherever possible. That starts with using high-quality materials that are built to last, which helps prevent waste over time. Many of our fencing options — especially aluminum and vinyl — are recyclable, and we work with suppliers who prioritize sustainable manufacturing practices.
We also take care on-site by minimizing material waste, cleaning up thoroughly, and avoiding unnecessary damage to landscaping or soil structure. Whether you’re looking for natural materials like wood or low-maintenance options like vinyl, we’ll help you choose a solution that aligns with your long-term values.
In many cases, yes. No-dig fencing uses specialized equipment to drive posts into the ground without excavating or pouring concrete. That means:
Less soil disruption
No concrete runoff or chemical leaching
Reduced waste
Less damage to surrounding landscaping, tree roots, or underground utilities
It’s a cleaner, more efficient installation method that not only looks great but also keeps your yard — and the environment — a little more intact.
If your fence is damaged due to weather, impact, or general wear and tear, give us a call. We can assess the issue and let you know what repair options are available. In many cases, we can replace individual panels, posts, or sections without needing to reinstall the entire fence. We’ll always give you an honest assessment and a fair quote.
That depends on the material:
Wood fencing may need periodic staining or sealing every few years to protect it from moisture and UV damage.
Vinyl and aluminum fences are virtually maintenance-free — just rinse with a hose or light soap and water if dirt builds up.
Chain link fences require little upkeep, but trimming grass and weeds near the base will help prevent rust or wear.
We’ll go over basic care tips at the end of your project to help you keep your fence looking great.
Yes — here are a few general tips:
Keep grass, mulch, and plants away from the base of your fence
Avoid hanging heavy items on the fence or gates
Inspect gate hardware occasionally and tighten screws if needed
For wood fences, consider sealing or staining as needed
Rinse vinyl and aluminum fences as needed to remove dust or debris
